Today, no single organization regulates responsible AI development, nor is there a commonly-accepted technological development framework or set of guidelines. As such, public, private, and nonprofit entitles are left to self-regulate, which can produce harmful results—intended or unintended.
Rapid advancements across sectors and industries indicate that our collective future will be heavily shaped by emerging technologies in a number of disciplinary domains. Simultaneously, we see these advances challenge many of our shared values, such as equity, fairness, privacy, security, respect, and accountability.
Experts and stakeholders must work together to ensure that we usher technology in the right direction for the benefit of the many.
As an independent, Pittsburgh-based nonprofit, PART contributes to this collective effort by offering an array of services to the public and private sector and the broader community, including collaborative education projects, consultation, networking, research, and a convening platform for thought leadership and knowledge sharing.
